CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER RECRUITMENT

The City of Amesbury, MA (pop. 17,500), is seeking a seasoned public sector finance manager to serve as the City’s next CFO.  With a strong Mayor/Council form of government, the CFO serves as the de-facto Chief Administrative Officer, reporting to a ‘strong’ Mayor.  The CFO has the statutory powers of City Auditor and is designated as the Chief Procurement Officer and Human Resource Director.  Amesbury is ideally located along the banks of the Merrimack River at the intersection of Interstates 95 and 495, just a few miles from the Seacoast, while only 40 miles north of Boston.  General Fund expenditures for FY 2018 were $59.1 with approx. 54% of that going to education.  Amesbury is rated AA by Standard and Poors.  Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and at least 10 years of progressively responsible public management experience particularly related to finance and HR functions.  The successful candidate must foster a cohesive management team and maintain positive professional relationships with local and State officials. Salary range to $117,000 plus $3,000 stipend for service on the Retirement Board; starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Amesbury is an equal opportunity employer.
