Androscoggin Valley Council of GovernmentsFinance DirectorThe Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments (AVCOG), located in Auburn, Maine, is seeking an experienced professional for the position of Finance Director. AVCOG is a quasi-municipal government organization serving communities in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties with a total annual budget of $3.8M.
The position is highly responsible and serves as the chief financial officer for the organization. The individual must have thorough knowledge of principles and practices of governmental accounting and budgeting; the ability to plan, organize, direct and review the work of several operating departments engaged in a variety of financial activities; ability to formulate, initiate and administer general controlling policies and procedures. Individual must possess demonstrated senior level supervisory experience and have the ability to promote and maintain customer service and strong partnering relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Individual should have experience with State and Federal grants to ensure financial compliance which includes financial reporting and monthly monitoring of available resources and expenditures of all agency grant programs.
AVCOG is seeking candidates with a minimum of seven years of accounting/financial management experience including grants management and fund accounting; and computerized accounting. Individual should have considerable knowledge of the governmental finance field with proven experience in budgetary preparation, comprehensive annual financial reporting, and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements. Individual should possess visionary financial skills and the ability to perform long term financial planning. Supervisory experience as well as experience with administering Revolving Loan Program funds is preferred.
Applicants should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or closely related field. Master’s degree or certified professional designation preferred. Salary range for the position is $75,071 to $108,853.
