GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • Grade: 13 [$86,600 – 127,140 / annual]
  • Salary commensurate with years of relevant experience.

SUMMARY: Performs financial activities including planning, organizing and directing City finances. The Finance Director coordinates the functions of the Finance department, handles audits and financial controls and acts as the City Treasurer.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in accounting is required (Master’s degree in a related field and/or CPA license is preferred), plus a minimum 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience supervising others and municipal government accounting experience.

WORK ACTIVITIES: Supervise and monitor distribution of all City funds according to City policies and procedures. Prepare and maintain monthly and annual financial reports. Provides City Administrator all financial reports and statements. Maintains a system of control to monitor expenditures versus appropriations, cost accounting and grant compliance. Assist department/division heads regarding the annual operational budget and personnel services. Work with and oversee finance committee. Manage and supervise Treasury, Accounting, Auditing, and Purchasing operations. Responsible for executing the annual municipal bond sale. Maintain functionality of City enterprise software. Oversee risk management and conduct programs that mitigate liability against the City. Maintain the self-insurance worker’s compensation program, prepare annual audit and complete State reporting requirements. Prepare the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, Lewiston Capital Improvement Plan and official statements. Performs other duties as assigned.
