Finance Director/Treasurer

The Town of Ogunquit, ME the “Beautiful Place by the Sea” is seeking a highly skilled finance professional to join the Town’s senior management team.  This position reports directly to the Town Manager and is responsible for the integrity of the Town’s financial operations.

The Town of Ogunquit is a seaside resort community located 40 miles south of Portland and 70 miles north of Boston.  Ogunquit Beach was named the top-ranked New England beach in TripAdvisor’s 2019 Travelers’ Choice Awards.  Ogunquit has a $9 million annual municipal budget, not including the public schools.   We have a separate Sewer District  and Water District.  Ogunquit has a strong and stable tax base with a current assessed value of $1.4 billion.

The Finance Director/Treasurer is responsible for administering all aspects of the Town’s financial operations including internal controls, financial management systems, tax billing and collections,  sound cash management and cash flow practices, payroll, purchasing, risk management, debt management and the issuance of all bonded debt.  The Treasurer is responsible for preparing financial reports covering all municipal activities and funds, maintaining municipal accounting records, investments, and administering the Town’s financial policies and strategies.

This position works closely with the Town Manager to prepare and manage the annual operating budget, capital budget, the 5-year capital improvement plan, and provides financial analysis to assist the Town in its long-term financial planning.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, forward thinking finance manager who has a collaborative management style, and a commitment to working with others to find solutions. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field and a progressively responsible work record, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job successfully.  Salary range to $82,500.  Starting salary commensurate with qualifications.  The Town of Ogunquit is committed to diversity in our work force.
